‘Delay’ in disbursing loan to ST youth

MARGAO: The applicants for the Goa Tribal Employment Generation Programme (GTEGP) have written to the Prime Minister of India complaining about the harassment by the Government officials to the Scheduled Tribe youth by delaying disbursement of the Loan under Tribal Sub-Plan.

The applicants of “Goa Tribal Employment Generation Programme” (GTEGP) under Tribal Sub-Plan” in their letter have informed on how different government departments and the Goa Government is discriminating tribals. 
“They bring warranted hurdles, show lethargic attitude concerning the development of tribals. Even after 69 years of independence people belonging to the tribal community are being treated like untouchables… We are being harassed by government officers… as we are powerless and voiceless people,” said one of the applicants Rupesh Velip.
In their letter the applicants informed that 89 ST youth had applied for a loan under GTEGP, but though more than three years have passed their applications are pending for final approval and disbursement of loan.
