VASCO: Lashing out at GPCC president Luizinho Faleiro for ruling out an alliance, NCP president Jose Philip D’Souza said that there is a need to keep the BJP away from power, and so, the people have to adopt the Bihar formula of ‘Mahagathbandhan’ for the next Assembly elections.
“Few days back, Faleiro said that the Congress’ doesn’t feel the need to have an alliance. He should avoid talking about alliances as the decision to have an alliance is not his hands; the high command takes such decisions. I feel that by making such statements, he is actually trying to help the BJP come back to power again in the next elections,” said D’Souza.
He also claimed that the NCP has grown substantially in the last few years and that many heavyweights from Congress and BJP want to join his party.
He said, “I advise Congress leaders to stop making fun of NCP by saying that we have no roots in Goa and have become weak. Even today, we can field candidates in all 40 constituencies. However to keep BJP away from power, we need to adopt the Bihar alliance model and show the BJP its position.”
Meanwhile, NCP spokesperson Trajano D’Mello has questioned whether the Congress’ ‘oath of tolerance’ includes tolerating the corruption of the BJP government, which has reached its highest level. He stated, “You take an oath of tolerance and confuse the people of Goa. Why Congress has been silent on the issue of corruption? Are they afraid of something? Why is Congress allowing BJP to blackmail them on the SEZ scam? The Congress leadership should come clean and say whether SEZ is a scam or not.”
He said, “It is funny to hear that the Congress president has been repeating ‘we are sorry’. We and the people of Goa have the right to know what you are sorry for, for which crimes, and who are the culprits? Please name them and let the people know whether these people for whom he says sorry will be a part of Mahagathbandan. A sorry without change has no meaning.”
