PANJIM: Five out of seven reservoirs in the state have reached their full capacity, thanks to heavy rains witnessed during the last few days.
As per data shared by the Water Resources Department (WRD), Sanguem reservoir in Uguem which meets the water requirement of most of South Goa is full at 102.37 per cent.

The other reservoirs which are full as of date are Panchawadi, which provides water supply to Shiroda and surrounding areas, Chapoli, Gunem and Amthane, which provides water to Bardez, Pernem and Bicholim taluka,.
The 760-metre Chapoli dam caters to the irrigation and drinking water needs of most of Canacona taluka and is fed by a nallah originating from the hills of Chapoli and surrounding areas.
Gaunem dam provides water to the residents of Gaondongrim and Cotigao. While Panchawadi is full at 100.35 per cent, Chapoli, Gunem and Amthane reservoirs are full at 100.44 per cent, 100 per cent and 100 per cent capacity. Only Anjunem, which meets water requirements of Sattari, and Tillari reservoirs are below 100 per cent mark.
While Anjunem is 98.77 per cent full, Tillari is 89.22 per cent full. After a remarkable hiatus, the state received a good amount of rainfall last week.
As per the IMD, Goa, the state received 4.4 inches of rainfall as against the normal rainfall of 2.7 inches of rainfall during the period of September 14 to 20, 2023.
