VASCO: The workers involved in salvaging operations on behalf of Ms Arihant Ship Breakers are all set to pull the final portion of MS Bhagirath-1 vessel from the grounded area at Arossim beach.
According to the information, in order to reduce the load on the winch that was used to pull the pontoon towards the higher side of the beach, the salvaging experts decided to cut the vessel into small pieces and finally the vessel was cut into three parts.
“Till date we have removed two portions of pontoon wreckage that was cut to reduce the load on the winch and the third and final portion of wreckage which is 10 metres wide and 30 metres in length remains to be pulled. We have been putting all efforts to ensure that final portion of pontoon wreckage could be pulled as early as possible,” informed a staff involved in the salvage operation.
Sources informed that the final portion of pontoon wreckage which the salvaging team has managed to pull towards the beach would be further cut into pieces and the operations are likely to be completed by Thursday.
