SANGUEM: Sanguem residents heaved a sigh of relief after the reports of all 18 persons, who had reportedly come in contact with the COVID-19 patient, came negative.
Sources at Sanguem PHC informed that while reports of 11 people including those of close family members of the Sanguem patient had come negative on Saturday, the reports of the remaining seven people whose swab samples were sent for testing also came negative on Sunday morning.

It may be recalled that Sanguem town and Mugoli ward of Uguem village were shocked following the news of a resident of Mugoli, who worked for Urban Health Centre, tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
The news spread in the taluka after the patient was shifted to the designated COVID-19 Hospital at Margao. Immediately, the villagers of Mugoli particularly the patient’s family members and his immediate neighbours were directed to stay indoors till the swab test reports.
Meanwhile, the family members denied that the COVID-19 patient visited Curchorem Bhagyatdar on the previous day of testing positive. A team of doctors and health officials from Sanguem PHC visited Mugoli ward to advise the locals on the precautionary measures that need to be taken and urged them not to panic.
