PANJIM: Revolutionary Goans on Friday demanded that Deputy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar and his supporters stop making imaginary statements in regard to the Mopa Greenfield airport.

The president of Revolutionary Goans, Manoj Parab, questioned Ajgaonkar and the government regarding the proposed Dhargal to Varkhand road which will connect NH 66 to the new airport at Mopa and sought clarity on the same as it was being opposed by the locals.
Earlier, in the day, Ajgaonkar said that the government will go ahead with the construction of approach road at Mopa if the villagers fail to show alternate land for the proposed road. He said that 90% of airport work was completed and that only 4% of villagers were opposing the construction of approach road.
Responding to Ajgaonkar’s claim, Parab asks“He (Minister) is asking farmers to offer alternate road option for Mopa airport and at the same time is saying that only 5% of the locals are opposing the same. On what basis is he making this statement? 80% of the people who lost their lands for the Mopa airport did not receive their compensation.”
Parab demanded to know how many local youth/land losers were employed at the existing Mopa airport work. The company carrying out the airport construction work only employs migrants, he charged.
Parab demanded from Ajgaonkar, his employment master plan for the local youth at the Mopa international airport.
“There is no skill development institute or training centre for Mopa airport skill development. On what basis is Ajgaonkar saying that 90% Mopa airport work is completed? In fact, the Bombay High Court at Goa dismissed false case filed against RG members” he said.
Parab pointed out that there was no employment for `Pednekars’ or `Goenkars’ in the proposed AYUSH hospital in Pernem taluka.
He further said that Dhargal and surrounding villages are losing land on this mega projects that apparently making locals lose their livelihood, who according to Parab, were mainly dependent on farming and cashew plantation.
