Govt specifies priority categories for vaccination

11 categories of persons including taxi drivers, auto rickshaw drivers, motorcycle pilots included

PANJIM: The State government on Friday issued a notification specifying priority categories for vaccination. The notification issued by the Public Health Department has given a list of 11 categories of persons that also includes taxi drivers, auto rickshaw drivers and motorcycle pilots. 

The Cabinet had this week conveyed to the General Administration Department that lactating mothers, seafarers, auto rickshaw drivers, taxi drivers, motorcycle pilots, parents of children whose age is two years and less, persons in various age groups of 18-44 years with co-morbidities, parents of children up to five years (with effect from June 4), parents of children up to 10 years (with effect from June 5), parents of children up to 15 years (with effect from June 6) and for those between 18-44 years who need to travel internationally for employment, education or sporting events be prioritised for vaccination. The order signed by Additional Secretary (Health) Vikas Gaunekar has asked the District Immunisation Officer for compliance.
