Loyola lift Royceton Cup

BELGAUM, JULY 22 Loyola High School, Margao scored a convincing 3-0 vcitory over St Paul's High School, Belgaum in the finals of Royceton memorial invitation football tournament here on Thursday. Loyola won the trophy for the second year in succession.

Loyola High School, Margao scored a convincing 3-0 vcitory over St Paul’s High School, Belgaum in the finals of Royceton memorial invitation football tournament here on Thursday. Loyola won the trophy for the second year in succession.
Loyola who led by a solitary goal at the break, gained in confidence as the match progressed and made sure of victory scoring two more after the interval.
Loyola owe their success to Bevan Fernandes, Rossly Da Costa and Ruflen Fernandes.
St. Paul put up a dogged display but could not cope up with the superior display of the Goa team.
Following prizes were awarded: Best goalkeeper Yohan Povri, St Stanislaus High School, Mumbai. Highest scorer Melcher Fernandes, St Stanislaus. Best player Altimas Ahmed, St Paul High School, Belgaum.
Dr Susana was the chief guest and gave away the prizes. She congratulated Joe Gomes and Thelma Gomes for organising the event every year in memory of their son Royceton who died at a vey young age,
Belgaum will witness more exciting matches in the coming days as the ‘Royceton Memorial Cup’ kicks off on Saturday, July 24.
