Uproar in House over contraceptive pill ads

The Opposition today raised alarm against certain advertisement about contraceptive pill shown on television “encouraging youth to indulge in sexual activity” and demanded that such advertisements should not be permitted to be shown in view of increasing cases of HIV-AIDS.
The issue was hotly debated during “Question Hour” on Thursday as Fatorda MLA, Damu Naik said HIV-AIDS had spread its tentacles but on the other hand no conginanze is taken about the advertisement about emergency contraceptives like I-pill that send wrong message to youth.
Leader of the Opposition Manohar Parrikar added saying the advertisement in question targets youth to indulge in risky sex as the pill is not safe as it was made out in the advertisement.
The Health Minister Vishwajt Rane replied that the advertisement which was widely shown on the television, has been now ordered to be banned by Drug Controller of India.
