RAIA: Host Batora United secured their spot in the semi-finals by defeating Camarxett SC, 4-2, via the tie-breaker, in the Batora United 9-a-side football tournament, played at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Wednesday
Both teams played aggressively, creating equal opportunities to score. However, Camarxett’s James missed the target in the 15th minute and Batora United’s Shawn Dias failed to tap the ball into an open net. In the second half, both sides continued to push for a goal, but neither could break the deadlock, leading to a penalty shootout to determine the winner.
In the shootout, Batora United converted their penalties through Shawn Dias, Joao Paul, Johnny and Elton Dias. Camarxett SC managed to score through James Fernandes and Rohit, but it wasn’t enough to secure victory.
Jose Paul Fernandes of Batora United was named man-of-the-match award presented by Clarina Alemao.
