Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari arrived at Dabolim Airport on Wednesday to inaugurate the Porvorim flyover. He was welcomed at the airport by Panchayat Minister Mauvin Godinho, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, Vasco MLA Krishna Daji Salkar and Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar. Gadkari is scheduled to attend the inauguration ceremony of the much-awaited flyover in Porvorim.
The newly built elevated corridor will be inaugurated in the presence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, PWD Minister Digambar Kamat, Union Minister of State for Power Shripad Naik, Cabinet Ministers and other dignitaries.
The 5.15-km long six-lane corridor connecting the Hotel Majestic, Porvorim to the Sangolda junction section of NH-66 has been built at a cost of Rs 641.46 crore. The project was sanctioned in April 2023. Sawant said that this landmark addition to the national highway network will ease daily commutes and enhance inter-State connectivity, driving forward the vision of progressive and world-class road infrastructure in Goa. It will also reduce travel time between North Goa and South Goa districts and provide non-stop access through heavily congested Porvorim area.
