PANJIM: In a bizarre incident, a suspected drunk driver smashed into at least five parked cars at St Inez on Tuesday afternoon.
The man identified as Prithviraj Naik, a Bangalore native, was later caught by the public and handed over to the police.

The Panjim Police rushed to the spot and took him into custody. He was sent for medical examination and a First Information Report (FIR) for drunk driving and relevant sections of MV Act and Indian Penal Code were registered against him.
Sources said he was returning from an off shore casino when he crashed into five cars – Kia, Maruti Alto, Toyota Etios, Honda Eon and Renault Duster.
The man, who is living in Morjim for nearly 20 days, was driving an Innova car bearing registration number KA 51 MM 6965. The impact of the accident was such that the alleged accused driver’s car was also damaged badly. A short video that has gone viral shows a liquor bottle in the car and the injured driver surrounded by angry and curious people.
Police sources said that they will arrest him for drunk driving, once he recovers from his simple injuries. He is currently detained and was at the police station while formalities of the case were underway till late Tuesday might.
Naik, at present living at a rented premises in Morjim, undertakes training for surfing at the local beach.
