CANDOLIM: SAI Veterans and Candolim Veterans played out a 1-1 draw in the exhibition football match played at the Dr Gustavo Monteiro Stadium, Candolim, on Thursday.
SAI Veterans displayed fantastic possession football which was pleasing to the eye and dominated the proceedings from the start.
Shaikh Abu, Hillary Soares and Nelson Landez were excellent in defence for SAI. In midfield Alexander Fernandes, Benedict and Arnold Gomes played well as they fed the forwards Frankie Mascarenhas and Victor Lobo with brilliant passed as they threatened the Candolim defense.
Both came close scoring on various occasions with Victor being unlucky as his attempts hit the crossbar while one of his attempts rebounded and came to Frankie whose strike ballooned over the cross bar.
At half time the score was 0-0.
Both the teams came back into the game with renewed vigour and scored a goal each. Candolim Veterans went 1-0 up through Caitan who headed a cross by Francis Fernandes, before Nelson Landez headed home Alexanders cross giving no chance to Candolim keeper to make it 1-1.
