“The super specialty block will be built in such a way that it will not only house the departments, but will also be able to function as educational departments, which will churn out students in the future,” the health minister informed and added that it will take care of the faculties needed. Speaking at the GMC on the occasion of World Heart Day, Parsekar further stated that currently only the neurosurgery department has teaching facility and dean Dr Pradeep Naik has taken responsibility to see that this facility is extended to other super specialties as well. Parsekar further informed that it will take about 2-3 years for the super speciality block to complete. “The Centre has agreed to finance 75 per cent of the cost and the rest will be borne by the Goa govt,” he said and added that after commencement of the block, students from Goa will have to compete with students from all over India for admission.
Super specialty block at GMC shortly
Health Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Thursday stated that the government will build a super specialty block, which would include all super- specialty facilities currently functioning in the GMC.
