Officials of the National Highway along with a posse of policemen descended at the site on Friday morning, only to be questioned by the family of the farmer Vishnu Desai to produce the documents that the land has been acquired by the CMC.
Sources in the know said the NH officials are now hesitant to take up the highway widening as the family has threatened to make them a party in the court of law. “We will take up the widening work only after the CMC submits the gift deed. We do not want to be caught in the legal issues,” remarked a senior highway official.
