MAPUSA: On the occasion of Goa’s 32nd Statehood Day, Revolutionary Goans appealed to the people of Goa to take responsibility of their state and protect it from further destruction.
They urge the people to pledge to restore Goenkarponn and protect the true identity of Goa.
The founder member of Revolutionary Goans, Manoj Parab remarked that it was useless wishing people on the occasion of Goa Statehood Day if one does not take responsibly of their land.
“If we do not value this Statehood and are allowing Goa to be a mini India then I don’t think we have the right to even wish each other on this day. Goa was given Statehood for its unique identity, culture and language just like the other States. We are being fooled every day as our land, jobs and rights are being systematically grabbed by people from other States. We cannot blame anyone as we have failed as Goenkars,” said Parab.
He lamented that greed, hasty decisions and extra kindness is what is finishing the true identity of Goa. The time has come when the people of Goa have to struggle to live in their own land.
“We are turning out to be outsiders in our land. If this is the state of affairs in the state then what is the use of Statehood. It is now time to rise up and start taking control of things which have gone out of hand. Let us vow to keep our individuality, serenity and peace alive,” said Parab.
