PANJIM: Former Mines & Geology Director J B Bhingui was questioned by Crime Branch’s (CB) Special Investigation Team (SIT) in the illegal mining case on Thursday.
His questioning comes a day after another former Director, Arvind Lolienkar, was grilled for nearly six hours at the CB office, Ribandar. Bhingui was quizzed for nearly eight and a half hours by SP Priyanka Kashyap, and is likely to be summoned again.
“He was asked about his alleged involvement in the scam as the illegalities/irregularities also occurred during his tenure as Director. He was thoroughly questioned but the SIT might call him again,” a source said.
Former Mines Officer A P D’Souza has been summoned on Friday while Lolienkar will make his second appearance in the case on Saturday.
The SIT is investigating criminal case 15/2013 that pertains to Justice M B Shah Commission’s report on illegal mining from 2005-2011.
