VALPOI: The Valpoi Mamlatdar, Joint Mamlatdar, Forest Department officials along with other departments officials’ have started spot verification of the tribals ownership of cultivated land under the Forest Rights Act.
The claimants demanded with Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Forest Minister Vishwajit Rane to solve the cases fast.
The State government has given the Forest Rights Committees (RFCs) a deadline of one year to decide on the claims made by tribals from Sattari and Sanguem Talukas under the Forest Rights Act.
In Sattari Taluka, there are around 3,000 plus claimants, who have applied for the ownership of their cultivated land under the Forest Rights Act. Till date, around 500 plus claimants have got the Sanad of their own land under Class B.
Right now, the officials are doing spot verification of the land in Nanoda village along with the village RFC president and villagers.
