CANACONA: Dubbing the Congress-led government at the Centre as ‘copycat’ by “photocopying all schemes of BJP”, BJP leader Smriti Irani accused the Congress party of half-heartedly introducing Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s dreams as their new schemes.
Irani was speaking at the ‘Gao Chalo Abhiyan’ launched by BJP Canacona block at Poinguinim in the presence of Canacona MLA and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar and others.
“BJP brought ‘Parivartan’ to rule in Goa and it will be repeated at Delhi in 2014 Lok Sabha elections,” she said.
Speaking on Food Security Ordinance, Irani said Congress claims it to be the dream of Sonia Gandhi. “In fact, it was the dream of Vajpayee, who was prime minister in 2002, who had initiated such an Act and a scheme was launched to reach meals to each and every household.”
‘Similarly, the Right to Education Act, which the Congress is taking the credit, is again the dream of Vajpayee, who had said that education is the right of every child and no one should be denied education,” stated Irani.
“Did the Congress at any time dream of reaching out and bringing developments in villages? It was Vajpayeeji who launched the ‘Sadak Yojna’, while Congress is known to develop only cities and village youth were forced to travel and struggle to find jobs in cities.”
“Congress is a copycat, xeroxing all the schemes of BJP and re-enacting it as their own. Bolte hain Sonia Gandhi ka sapna. A-re, sapne tho original dikha karo. Kyun BJP ke sapno ka Xerox mar-rahe ho! (They say well that these are dreams of Sonia Gandhi, at least have original dreams. Why are they copying BJP’s dreams),” she said.
“Don’t trust this Congress government which only lies to hoodwink electors at the time elections. See Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, whatever schemes he promised, are delivered up to your houses. Now, we are coming to your houses in view of the Gao Chalo Abhiyan.”
Earlier addressing BJP workers, Canacona MLA and Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar said the Canacona BJP had collected Rs.7.25 lakhs for the Uttarkhand flood-affected victims.
State BJP executive member Arun Bhat, vice-president Meena Naik, Canacona BJP block committee president and Poinguinim Sarpanch Mahesh Naik, Cotigao Sarpanch Meena Gaonkar and Loliem-Polem sarpanch Bhushan Prabhugaonkar were also present at the meeting.
