MARGAO: Early morning pre-monsoon showers at Margao not only darkened the skies but also dropped the temperature drastically to give the town a pretty pleasant day in this sweltering summer month.
The temperature dropped to a bearable 29 Celsius from 31 and above that it used to be all these days. The rains that started at around 5 am with slight breaks, continued till around 11 am providing relief to the residents of the town. However, while the people welcomed the rains and the relief it brought in the heat, for working people it was a bit of a problem as they had to search for their old rainwear to protect themselves from the showers.
Pre-monsoon work undertaken by the authorities had a setback as nothing could be done the whole day due to the rains since water had accumulated in dug up areas that needed to be pumped out.
