The school located at the Tillari Rehabilitation Colony at Sal is in very pathetic condition and the parents of the students are agitated as they claim that the government has been showing least interest in carrying out the repair works. The school roof is covered with polythene, while the walls are in very bad state. In absence of proper toilet facility, the students are forced to go into the open to urinate.

Upset with the numerous problems, the parents and the students staged a walkout. The students gathered at the gate of the school and raised slogans demanding repairs, proper facilities and a permanent English teacher.

Local MLA Chandrakant Shetye claimed that the government has asked for non-destructive test (NDT) and are waiting for the report.

“We have asked for NDT and will get the report in next 8 days. Only after the report is received we will decide whether we need a new building or the same building can be repaired,” Shetye added.

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant urging the parents to consider the circumstances has said, “The parents should understand the situation. We are ready to shift the students to the nearby school or if anyone is giving his house on rent then these students can also be shifted there.”

Meanwhile, the PTA has told that they would continue with their agitation till their demands are met.
