Looking all
around our city when the only noticeable sight is the craters, potholes, and dug up
places, it is very disturbing. Not only because our roads are so messy, but the
number of accidents that keep occurring due to the bad roads. These roads have
created an uneven economic balance. Increase in the number of deaths, injuries
(in turn disturbing the lives of people), damage to vehicles and yes, even
medical expenses.
Alarmingly the main towns of Goa Panjim, Mapusa and Vasco seem
to have bad and crumbling roads, almost as a norm

Locals have also
noticed the incomplete work on certain roads where they are just covered with
shallow mud, after being dug. Last year, due to this same carelessness an
elderly couple fell from the bike in one of the holes in the road. Adding to
the so called ‘Road Mess’, there are people who drive and ride rashly on such
roads. And what do we have- Only more accidents, loss and injury.
Meanwhile, one of the
essential part of driving are the streetlights, which seem to be missing in
many areas, or not working. So, we have darkness, potholes and rash driving
enough to make a common commuters life miserable.
The stretch from
Karaswada to the Gurim junction is called “dreaded” at night with roads under
construction which are death traps at night with no lights. There are many such
killer stretches in other parts of the the state
