MAPUSA: Benny XI crushed ten-men Milagres Sports Club, Mapusa 6-0 in the Bardez zone GFA 3rd Division football league match at Moira ground, Friday.
The winners led 2-0 at the breather.
The teams started cautiously but as soon as Benny XI got into their rhythm there was no looking back. Gawtan Kurhkar opened the floodgates in the 20th minute as he coolly tapped in off a flag-kick and before the break, Jesus D’Souza made it 2-0 with a venomous long ranger.
Post resumption, the match settled into a familiar pattern as Milagres conceded their third goal when Ronny Fernandes finished from a one-to-one situation.
Subsequently, Michael Dias got on the score-sheet off a set-piece.
In the 81st minute, Milagres’ Alvito Fernandes received a direct red card for bringing down a rival player inside the box prompting the referee to award a penalty which was converted by Dario Fernandes.
In the dying minutes, Andrew Fernandes drove the last nail into the rival coffin, making it 6-0.
FC Siolim hold Xetrapal
At Siolim ground, Xetrapal Sports Club and Football Club of Siolim played a 3-3 draw. Xetrapal led 2-1 at half time.
Siolim got of to a dream start as Chetan Vaingankar gave them the lead in the very second minute, however, Xetrapal came back strongly with striker Bradley Lobo netting the equalizer in the 17th minute and then putting them ahead in the 25th minute.
Changing over, it was Rajesh Pomburpekar who levelled the scores for Siolim but minutes later Jaison Sequera made it 3-2.
Siolim went all-out in the final quarter and with a minute remaining for regulation time Rajesh sealed a point with a fine finish.
Goals from Vishnu Mandrekar and Sushant Pal in the first session was enough as Bicholim Association of Football Fans grounded Tropa Sports and Cultural Club 2-0 at Tivim ground.
