PANJIM: One of the terminated staff of anganwadi, Pornima Gaonkar from Canacona, who along with the other six protesting workers, who are demanding revocation of their termination order since 15 days, was rushed to the hospital on Friday due to deterioration of health.

Union leader Hridaynath Shirodkar said, “We had met Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant to request him to revoke the termination order. The CM informed us that the file though has been moved to the department, the Minister of concerned department has withheld the file of revocation of termination orders.”
“Friday was the 15th day since anganwadi workers launched their chain hunger strike demanding revocation of termination orders,” Shirodkar added.
Narrating about the harassment and unusual situations that the workers have to go through during dark hours of the day, Shirodkar threatened that the Director of Women and Child along with the Minister of Health will be held responsible in case of occurrence of any unfortunate incident.
Shirodkar at this time also raised concern about the security of a women protestor and their health condition.
He informed that the worker, who was admitted to the hospital, was discharged at late hours in the afternoon and that despite of her dire condition she has preferred to rejoin the protest.
Stating the reason of deterioration of health of an anganwadi worker, Shirodkar said the worker had to be admitted in the hospital due to low sugar level and high blood pressure.
The other anganwadi workers have requested to the government to revoke their termination order as they have family to support and children to feed.
