Arolkar brothers join Congress

MAPUSA: Mapusa municipal councillors Tarak and his brother Vilas Arolkar joined Congress on Sunday.

Both the brothers joined the Congress in the presence of Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar, vice president Babi Bagkar, Former MLA Agnelo Fernandes, GPCC spokesman Amarnath Panjikar, North Goa District Congress president Vijay Bhike, Mapusa Block Congress president Shashank Narvekar and other office-bearers.

Arolkar brothers joined Congress along with their 200 workers and supporters.

Soon after the municipal elections held in May last year, Arolkar brothers had extended their support to the BJP-backed panel.

Tarak Arolkar said that they decided to quit BJP after it was found that the party was not concerned about the common man and were interested in power.

Arolkar said that Aldona constituency has remained neglected for the last 10 years and appealed to the people to support Congress party for the development of the Aldona constituency and overall development of the State.
