5 PPs without salaries for last 3 months

The delays in renewing the appointments have left few Public Prosecutors (PPs) work without their salary since last three months.
Sources confirmed that at least five Public Prosecutors on adhoc basis have not been paid their salaries.
“We are not paid our salaries since October this year onwards. Our adhoc extensions are twice a year and processing is done only the expiry of a term. This consumes time,” said the PP, on condition of anonymity fearing departmental action.
Senior bureaucrats dealing with salaries for ad-hoc appointees told Herald that the delay is because the adhoc appointment is yet to come.
“The file has been processed. We are expediting the matter…We have asked them (PPs) to follow up with the Goa Public Service Commission as well,” he said.
The PPs however rued that the procedure for extension should begin two months prior to the expiry of their term. “The authorities have to process our files atleast two months before the expiry of the term. But they function otherwise. Its usual practice to hold back our salaries,” a PP said.
The set of five PPs who are facing the problem are on adhoc since 2004, out of which four of them have not received their salaries since October 2010.
