NAVELIM: Salgaocar FC downed Parappur FC 3-1 in the Hero U-13 India youth league (Sub-junior) final round match organised by AIFF played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Friday.
Salgaocar FC coach Chagas Cajetan Fernandes gave extra charge to control midfield as well as forward line to midfielder Ashnoy Prince Gomes and striker Salvador Gama and Rui Carlo De Piedade Noronha.
In the fifth minute, Rui took control of the ball from Ashnoy dribbled past Parappur FC defenders Jaghnath Jayan and Ninav K Arun and took a powerful shot which divingly saved by Parapurr FC keeper Astrin Thomas T.
As the match progressed in the 14th minute, a rival defender intentionally brought down Rui and the match referee Rohit awarded the penalty kick to Salgaocar FC which Rui converted to open the account for Salgaocar FC.
As the match progressed, in the 23rd minute, Parappur equalised through Ebin Wilson with a snapshot.
In the second half, Salgaocar FC netted two more quick goals. Rui connected the ball to Joean Simoes who took an angular shot which was dipping into Parappur net which defender Ninav K Arun tried to block but the ball slipped off his legs and travelled into his own net in the 39th minute.
Later in the 50th minute, Salgaocar FC substitute striker Micheal Nevil Dias made it 3-1 for Salgaocar FC.
