MARGAO: The week-long stalemate plaguing the Colva Panchayat body continues with the Panchayat Director shying away from guiding the Block Development Officer on how to resolve the leadership issue.
Panchayat Director Narayan Sawant had on Friday promised to resolve the Colva Panchayat imbroglio by issuing necessary directions to the BDO on Monday. However when Herald contacted Salcete BDO Uday Prabhudessai, he said his office has received no communication from the Panchayat Director on the stalemate dogging the Panchayat body.
It’s more than a week now since the Panchayat has been functioning without a sarpanch, deputy sarpanch or Administrator. While the appointment of an administrator by the panchayat director has been stayed by the South Goa district Court, Sarpanch Snowkon Gonsalves and his deputy Blanca have so far not assumed office and are waiting for the Panchayat Director to issue necessary communication vis-à-vis the order passed by Additional Panchayat Director Jayant Tari suspending the resolution which had voted them out of office in a no confidence motion.
The Panchayat Director had appointed the administrator after both Snowkon and Blanca were voted out of office in a no confidence motion on February 4.
