PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who holds the education portfolio, said that the concerns of schools having difficulty with the extended school timing and desiring exemption or relaxation during this academic year, would be considered on case to case basis within seven days of they applying to the government.
Parrikar also said that those schools which want to opt for full day schooling would be allowed with six and half as instructional hours, a mandatory 200 days of instructional working and Saturdays off in addition to the normal Sunday.
But he clarified that there would be change as far as government schools were concerned about the revised timings as the department had not received any complaints as yet.
“Those schools who want full day schooling, with six and half instructional hours, would be given weekend holidays ~ Saturday and Sunday. Their working days would be Monday to Friday with total working hour 1100,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a press briefing called Monday evening.
“The government school will run as per the extended school timing since thus far there have been no complaints. The guidelines are applicable to only private aided schools,” he said adding that within the next three days, the Education department
would issue a circular on this.
However, he said that while opting for full day school, the schools would have to submit the details of their present infrastructure in their application to the Education department.
