After drowning incident of two LIC staff at Mainapi, Netravali, the Forest Department has taken action to restrict the entry at such places.

On Tuesday, again in another incident, a 16-year-old Anil Chavan got drowned in laterite quarry at Cansaulim village. The boy along with two friends had gone for swim but unfortunately one got drowned.
There are many incidents happening during the monsoon season when many go for picnic and want to enjoy scenery and waterfalls. The Aguada Fort is full of tourists and local Goans too, who want to enjoy the monsoon season.
During rainy season, more picnics and trekking is organised by groups and friends but the same is taken as adventure which turns into tragedy if not taken care. There are many accidents during selfie taken on cellphone by the individuals standing on the edges of stones or waterfalls. The government should take some strict measures to restrict the movement of children and family members, groups, tourists during monsoon near waterfalls and mountains.
The incidents of drowning can be avoided by installing a signboard cautioning danger, which is done by the authorities but is ignored by most of the visitors. There should be ban on visit to waterfalls and if someone found violating the rules should be fined.
The water flow and rise in level in the lake or river increases during rainy season which results in high current in waterways which creates danger for the swimmers too. It’s better to take precautions beforehand to avoid such incidents and loss of lives.
