A 83-year-old scooterist was killed in a road accident at the Loutolim side of the Borim bridge on Wednesday evening.
Maina Curtorim police said that the scooterist was knocked down by a speeding jeep (GA 05 B 4664). Both the vehicles were proceeding in one direction, the police added.
The victim Ivens Menezes was immediately rushed to Hospicio and is believed to have breathed his last while being shifted to the Goa Medical College and hospital, Bambolim.
The police said the driver of the jeep fled away from the scene after the accident.
The police said a case will be registered against the jeep driver. Further investigations are on.
