CURCHOREM: Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Curchorem clinched the Zone IV football girls championship, defeating St Alex Higher Secondary School, Curtorim 3-0 at Sports complex ground, Borimoll-Quepem on Saturday.
In the 10th minute, Guardian Angel opened their account through their striker Denica Fernandes. When they took the lead St Alex became more aggressive and tried their level best but did not succeed in their efforts to neutralize the score.
While continuing their efforts to equalise the tally St Alex started dominating the proceedings but striker Siniola Pereira through her good placement doubled the lead.
Changing ends St Alex went all out in search of equaliser but Guardian Angel intensified the attacks and kept their opponents on the back foot.
Spurred by the success, Guardian Angel slowly increased their pace and troubled the rival defense with well-orchestrated raids and finally drove the last nail into the rival coffin through striker Relima Dias.
Principal of Guardian Angel HSS, Fr Walter Miranda gave away the certificates to the winners and runners-up in the presence of APEO John Fernandes, SAG football coach Sharon Fernandes and Social worker Concy Fernandes.
Now the winners will represent Zone IV at the Inter-Zone to be held at Fatorda.
