FATORDA: Vasco Veterans defeated Bardez Veterans 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the Fatorda Forward Veterans football tournament, played at Fatorda ground on Wednesday.
It was Bruno Coutinho who had the first shot at the Vasco goal in the second minute but Vasco keeper John Fernandes parried the ball to safety. Vasco’s Ramesh Palkar took control of the ball from Santan Colaco and shot from the top of the Bardez box but Bardez keeper Jude Fernandes was equal to the task.
In the 15th minute, Caitan Cardozo dribbled couple of Vasco defenders and pulled his trigger which sailed into Vasco nets, 1-0. But the joy was short-lived as within ten minutes Nelson Landez equalised for Vasco with a glancing header off Vincent Colaco’s cross.
As the match progressed, Sheikh Niazi of Vasco took a brilliant shot but Jude Fernandes saved it brilliantly. Just a minute to go for the final whistle, Vincent Colaco netted the match-winner for Vasco with a placement shot.
