Relief for citizens over tree felling

There will be some relief for citizens who wish to cut trees from around their residences.
The State Government has exempted from payment of tree-felling fee and security in man-made timber wood plantations raised in private lands and which are required to be felled as prescribed under approved scientific management plan, under section 31 of the Goa, Daman and Diu Preservation of Trees Act, 1984.
The notification states that felling will be allowed subject to the condition that prior permission to cut the trees as well for transport of the felled material is obtained under the Act. The notification is issued by Maria J R Pires Under Secretary (Forest).
REVIEW PANEL ON FOREST MANAGEMENT: The State Government has constituted a State Level Review and Monitoring Committee under the Chairmanship of Principal Chief Conservator of Forests for periodic review of the scheme, ‘Intensification of Forests Management’, (formerly known as Integrated Forest Protection Scheme) as per directives given by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests.
A notification states the Chief Conservator of Forests and Conservator of Forests (Wildlife and Eco-Tourism) are the members of the committee and Conservators of Forests (Conservation) is the member secretary.
