MAPUSA: The Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC), Mapusa, on Wednesday adjourned the 2017 election code violation case against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, to January 5, 2024.
Adv Surel Tilve appeared before the JMFC on behalf of Kejriwal and filed memo of appearance and exemption before the court.

While hearing the case, the JMFC had directed Kejriwal to be present before the court during the next hearing with a personal bond of Rs 10,000 and one local surety.
The next course of action will be decided upon receiving the copy of the chargesheet, Adv Tilve said. The JMFC had asked Kejriwal to remain present before it on November 29.
On November 28, the JMFC, Mapusa had issued summons to Kejriwal in a case of alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) for Goa Assembly elections in 2017. The then returning office had filed a complaint against Kejriwal for allegedly violating model code of conduct while addressing public meeting at Mapusa.
The case was registered against Kejriwal for violating section 123 (1) of the Representation of the People’s Act and section 171 B and 171 E of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
