MARGAO: South Goa Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha on Saturday made his stand clear on the issue pertaining to the Major Port Authorities Bill, 2020 and stated that he is not against the Bill but has objections to the jurisdiction of the port limit.
He also urged the State government not to encourage the illegal structure bypassing the Goa Bhumiputra Adhikarini Bill, 2021.

Briefing the media persons, here, Sardinha said all the illegal houses on private properties should be demolished, and make a policy like 20-Point Programme.
“The jurisdiction of the port limit should not cross into the areas of panchayat and municipalities. Authority should not go beyond the port limit. I urged the State government to lead the all-party delegation to the Prime Minister in order to put forth the grievances of the State and convince the Central government,” he stated.
“I urged the Chief Minister of Goa to mark the copies of the memorandum to the MPs which are sent to the Central government so that we also are aware of the issues,” he stated.
Reacting to the Bhumiputra Bill, Sardinha said, “All the encroachments and illegal houses on the private land should be demolished.”
“Don’t encourage illegal structures, instead implement the programme similar to 20-Point Housing Scheme and give preference to the Goans, and thereafter to the outsiders who have settled in Goa,” he stated.
He urged the government to clear the pending Tenancy and Mundkar cases.
Further, the MP charged the government for denying the fact that COVID-19 patients have not died because of alleged shortage of oxygen supply at GMC, Bambolim. He demanded Rs 5 lakh compensation to the kin of patients died.
