VALPOI: Supporters of a football team attacked the player of the opposing team on sunday during the quarter final match of a inter-village tournament.
The tournament was organised by the Sarvarshe village boys. Sarvarshe village boys and Kopardem village boys was contesting the quarter-final match on the Khadaki village ground.
During the match, some supporters of the Sarvarshe village boys, who had came to watch the match, attacked one of Kopardem village boys player Prathamesh Sawant.
He was attacked and beaten by a police constable Yogesh Gaonkar and his friends. Kopardem village boys filed a complaint against that constable. All villagers from Kopardem village were gathered at Valpoi police station.
When the police called that constable for interrogation, Kopardem village boys had attacked a boy infront of the police officers.
The situation was tense at Valpoi police station but later on they controlled the situation. Police Sub Inspector Gaurish Malik is investigating the case.
