PORVORIM: Revenue Minister, Rohan Khaunte on Wednesday said the Comunidade Code will be amended in the upcoming Monsoon Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly to strengthen the government ability to crack down on irregularities in comunidade property across the State.
“The amendment will help streamline the functioning of comunidade bodies across the State,” he said.
“The government is of the opinion that the Code of Comunidade needs to be amended as there are many issues pertaining to illegalities on comunidade land. Hence, the issues raised in the comunidade commission report will be introduced as a bill in the upcoming Assembly session for discussion and debate before passing it,” he said.
“There are issues such as regularising illegal structures and other issues related to the comunidade land that needed to be changed. The Comunidade Commission has put many more pointers and hence there is a need to amend the Code of Comunidade. The commission’s report will be put up and accordingly amended in the Assembly session. The people from the comunidade bodies and other fraternity were not included while framing the Comunidade Code,” he added.
