Mapusa: The body of a woman, who was in her early 20’s was found on Calangute beach, a day after she was reported missing by her family. The body was found washed ashore at the Calangute beach on Thursday early morning.
According to sources, the PCR received a call informing that a body of a woman was lying on the Calangute beach. Immediately a team of Calangute police rushed to the spot and the body was shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
Preliminary inquiry helped to identify the deceased and her family was informed.
North Goa SP Shobit Saxena said,”post-mortem examination shows that this is not a case of sexual assault or any violence of that sort. The cause of dead is due to drowning. In such case where we find dead bodies we register a case of unnatural death and during inquiry, other aspects are looked into to ascertain that there is no foul play. Prima facie we have ruled out any possibility of sexual assault or violence based on the post-mortem report”.
Sources informed that the deceased was missing since Wednesday morning and was last seen near Green Park Hotel, Guirim. The woman’s family had filed a missing complaint at Mapusa police station on Wednesday.
