New Delhi: The national capital is set to witness heightened security measures and traffic restrictions as the 18th BRICS Leaders’ Summit is scheduled to be held at Bharat Mandapam on September 12 and 13.
Heads of state, foreign delegations and senior dignitaries are expected to travel across Delhi during the two-day summit, prompting authorities to put special security and traffic arrangements in place. The measures are likely to affect movement and public services in several parts of the city.

Schools and Government Offices to Remain Closed
All government, government-aided and recognised unaided private schools under the Delhi Directorate of Education will remain closed on Friday, September 11.
The Delhi Lieutenant Governor has also declared September 11 a public holiday in the national capital in view of the BRICS summit.
Delhi government offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings functioning under the Delhi government will also remain closed on the day.
Schools are expected to reopen on Monday, September 14, following the weekend.
Banks and Private Offices to Remain Open
Banks operating in Delhi will remain open on September 11, as the date is not listed as a bank holiday in the Reserve Bank of India’s holiday calendar.
Private offices and establishments are also expected to continue functioning, although employees and commuters may face traffic restrictions and diversions in areas affected by the summit-related security arrangements.
Authorities are expected to issue further advisories regarding road closures, diversions and restrictions as the summit approaches.
