DABOLIM: Guardian Angel Sports Club outplayed Carmona Sports Club 3-1 in GFA Second Division League match at T.B Cunha Sports Complex, Cansaulim, on Friday.
Both the teams were tied 1-1 at the break.
In the first half, it was Carmona team which broke the deadlock through the efforts of Shawn Pereira in the 8th minute. Shawn after finding a loose ball smashed it into the right corner of the net to send Guardian Angel goalkeeper napping.
Down with a goal, Guardian Angel Sports Club fought hard to get the equaliser and came close in just 10 minutes later when Kevin Fernandes and Valzino Fernandes beautifully built up a smart move with a one-to-one passing but Valzino Fernandes was the culprit shooting wide from a handshaking distance.
Every move of Carmona Sports Club was foiled with smart offside trapping and well defending by the Guardian Angel leaving Selachi Cardozo of Carmona at bay. Finally, Guardian Angel found the equaliser in the 43rd minute when Yuri Fernandes of Carmona fouled Desmond Fernandes. The resultant free kick was turned into an equaliser as Mariano Fernandes shot a low pass to Valzino, who made no mistake.
In the second half, Guardian Angel showed greater strength with good passing and came close to scoring twice through Valzino, but he shot wide. Guardian Angel finally took the lead in the 61st minute through Desmond.
In the 80th minute, there was a drama created on the field when Carmona striker was brought down in the box and play was halted for a couple of minutes.
The referee showed no interest in the tackle and instead pointed out for a corner. This brought a wrath in the Carmona SC players and they reacted harshly on the referee as few players got physical and pushed the referee.
At the same time some of the players of Carmona SC verbally abused the referee and the linesman for not giving the decision in their favour. The linesman was hit by Carmona SC supporter on the head.
Surprisingly, no players of Carmona SC were booked in the tussle caused earlier. Velzino struck his second of the day with a solo run down the right flank and then shot past Carmona goalkeeper in the top right corner to make it 3-1.
