Political tensions have escalated in Karnataka following the expansion of the state cabinet, with several senior leaders voicing disappointment after being overlooked for ministerial positions.
Despite the growing discontent, Chief Minister DK Shivakumar appeared unfazed by the backlash, stating that he was prepared to accept the resignation of any dissatisfied MLA “within a few minutes.” He, however, added that he would personally speak to each legislator to address their concerns.

Addressing the newly inducted ministers, Shivakumar urged them to immediately focus on drought relief efforts across the state.
“I have instructed all the ministers to begin visiting all drought-affected areas from tomorrow itself. Don’t waste time. Visit every district, and I have directed officials to make all necessary arrangements for these site visits. Everyone must get involved in this work,” the Chief Minister said.
The cabinet expansion saw 19 MLAs take oath as ministers on Monday, nearly two months after Shivakumar assumed office as Chief Minister.
The latest appointments have triggered political unrest within the ruling establishment, with several leaders expressing dissatisfaction over being excluded from the new cabinet.
