Loutolim petrol adulteration accused released

The three accused arrested in the petrol storage case at Loutolim were on Friday released upon orders from the Judicial Magistrate First Class, Margao.
The trio Antonio Salvador Alvares, Manuel Fernandes and Sebastiao D’Costa were ordered to be released by JMFC, Margao Pooja C Kavlekar upon executing a personal bond of Rs 5000 and one identical surety.
The judge ordered the accused not to abscond or jump the bail and not to tamper with the evidence.
The accused were further ordered not to leave the country without the permission of the court until the matter is finally disposed off.
Moreover, the accused were directed to remain present before the police station for the next three days between 10 am to 12 noon and thereafter as and when required by the investigation officer.
The judge directed the Maina Curtorim police officer to release the accused if they are not required in any other case or crime and return the bail bond duly signed by the accused to the court.
The three accused were arrested by the Maina Curtorim police under the Essential Commodities Act two days ago after the CBI raided the premises at Loutolim on Wednesday evening as part of the crack down on petrol adulteration.
The police had seized a tanker, besides 19 barrels of diesel, petrol and oil all worth Rs 2.20 lakh from the premises, besides bags containing chemicals.
