In one of the latest medical advancements, senior consultant, Orthopaedics and Joint Replacement surgeon, Dr Amey Velingker has performed the first surgery in Goa with Provision Zero-G advance Helmet at Apollo Victor Hospitals.
The Helmet System known as Provision Zero-G is the next step in natural progression of surgical Helmet systems and is used by the medical professionals while performing complex and advanced surgeries.
Says Dr Velingker: “In order to provide superior patient care these days, latest technology plays a key role by assisting medical professionals to the maximum. This advanced Helmet system provides great convenience and safety to the surgeons during a surgical procedure. It prevents surgeons from exposure to blood and other body fluids that not only increases the risk of infection and contraction of disease, but may also eventually put patient health at risk. The Provision Zero-G is one of the latest equipments acquired by me that provide a great deal of protection, comfort, convenience and control while performing a procedure.”
He said use of this Helmet system by the surgeons while performing procedures eventually brings tremendous benefits for the patients, who have drastically reduced chances of infection and therefore a quicker and faster healing.
This new system known as Provision Zero-G is extremely light weight and provides a cooling effect on both the neck and the face area. It also provides an ability to change both the direction and intensity of the airflow within the system. Its magnetic attachment features makes attaching the garments very easy and its Hytrel Elastomer material provides a barrier protection to blood and body fluids.
The introduction of the Provision Zero G surgical space suit by Dr Ameya Velingker reduces the risk of infection in joint replacement surgeries. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Velingker said that the space suits barriers the surgeon’s and his team’s contact from the OT environment, thus eliminating the chances of infection.
“The space suit covers the surgeon from head to toes. The surgeon can visualize by a glass screen fitted to the space-suit. The hospital is also equipped with the only high quality of laminar airflow, air purifying system which purifies the OT air in many cycles in a minute. This purified air is pressurizes on the space-suit and the patient making the operating room air un-invaded by any human contaminant, the major source of infection in surgical procedures. The joint replacement centre has thus achieved the highest international standards in infection control”, he added.
