MAPUSA: The Anjuna police have arrested two people from West Bengal in connection with an OnePlus 7 Pro mobile theft that took place on Tuesday near Sita Restaurant, Vagator.
Anjuna PI Suraj Gawas informed that upon a complaint by a Maharahtra native that some unknown persons had committed theft of her mobile while she and her husband were travelling from Siolim to Vagator by a scooter two accused person on an Aprilla bike snatched the mobile phone and fled away.
The police registered an offence under Section 356, 379 read with 34 IPC and started investigating immediately.
During the course of investigation a duo from West Bengal namely Abbas Ali and Mursalim Hoque were placed under arrest.
During a search conducted in the rented premises of the duo at Arpora four mobile phones and the Aprilla bike were recovered.
During investigation it was revealed that both the accused persons were involved in snatching mobile phones of tourists visiting the coastal belt.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SP North, Utkrisht Prasoon and Mapusa DySP Gajanand Prabhudesai.
Earlier this month, the Saligao police arrested two natives of West Bengal in connection with a mobile theft that took place near Mae De Deus Church at Saligao.
