St Anthony Sporting trounce

St Anthony’s Sporting Club, Colva played some extravagant football to rout United Club of Benaulim in Group H of GFA Third Division league at St John Baptist ground, Dando, Benaulim on Tuesday. St Anthony’s were leading 1-0 at the breather.
It was a one-sided affair right from the start with St Anthony’s lads camping in the rival territory with Ryan Fernandes excelling upfront.
St Anthony’s went into the lead in the 10th minute when Jovito Fernandes scored off an accurate pass from Ryan Fernandes. The second half did not bring any respite for United Club as St Anthony attacked from both flanks.
Striker Ryan Fernandes doubled the lead in the 63rd minute after he picked up the ball from his own half and unleashed a snap shot which beat the rival goalkeeper hands up.
Ryan, who showed great opportunism, struck the second time in the 74th minute to complete his brace.
At Sinquetim ground, Navelim, Carmel Sports Club came from behind to hold Sirvodem Sports Club 3-3. Sirvodem led 2-1 at half time.
Sirvodem enjoyed the lion share of exchanges both in attack as well as defence and broke the deadlock in the 19th minute when Lazarus Fernandes blasted home from close range.
Stung by that setback, Carmel regrouped quickly and took the fight to the rival camp and found the equaliser in the 35th minute when Sibon Soares punished the rival keeper with a stiff grounder.
Stunned by the equaliser, Sirvodem went into the attack and in the 38th minute, Arif Shaikh fired home to give his team a 2-1 cushion.
Crossing over, Sirvodem continued to hold sway over their opponents and Lazarus recorded his brace in the 56th minute to give his team a 3-1 lead.
Carmel remained undeterred by the 3-1 lead and instead continued to fight their way, where Jose Gomes struck twice in the 62nd and 77th to put his team on level terms.
