The CCP Council on October 18 had resolved to halt the ropeway project work, as GTDC has failed to obtain permission for the project being undertaken in their jurisdiction.
“You (GTDC) are requested to clarify what type of work is undertaken at Miramar near Indoor stadium and whether any NOC has been taken from the corporation,” CCP Commissioner Deepak Dessai has said in his letter to the GTDC Managing Director.
During the meeting, Dessai had informed the Council that GTDC has not obtained any permission from the civic body and CCP is not aware of any such projects.
GTDC has currently begun soil testing in the area behind the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs that has been leased out to GTDC for 65 years for the ropeway project. The government intends to start work on the project by mid-November.
The 1.24-km long ropeway, which will be a major tourist attraction, would be a monocable detachable gondala system with a capacity of handling 800 persons per hour.
The technology partner for the project is Doppelmayr Gravanta, an Austria-Swiss group.
