The Anti-Narcotics Squad of the Customs and Central Excise raided a Mumbai-bound bus at Mapusa and seized 1.5 kg of narcotic substance, alleged to be opium, and caught red-handed the owner of the bus with the consignment.
Sources said one Sanjay Virdikar, aged 55, who owns at least three buses that run on routes besides Goa-Mumbai, has been arrested in the crime.
No details were available on the tip off and how the anti-narcotics squad zeroed down on the bus given the fact that there are numerous buses plying on the Mumbai-Goa route.
