MARGAO: Kharebhand attracted a large number of visitors on Tuesday after a 10-feetlong and three-feet wide crocodile got trapped in a drain near the old bridge around noon.
Hundreds of people from both Benaulim and Margao queued up to have a glimpse of the crocodile as animal rescue activists and locals joined hands to rescue the animal. The crocodile was later tied and transported in a van as people jostled to have a close look, even as the police had a hard time in controlling the crowd.
Animal rescue activist Julio Quadros said that crocodile must have come out of the river due to heavy flooding.
“Probably, the crocodile was heading back to the river today when it got stuck in the drain,”              he added.
