MARGAO: Newly-appointed Margao Municipal Chief Officer Sandhya Kamat has said she would wait for the High Court orders to pronounce its judgment before implementing the bio-metric finger scan readers for recording of employees’ attendance.
Kamat told Herald that she would give priority to tone up the administration and to free the municipal markets of encroachments. Besides, she said that efforts will be made to keep the city clean by timely clearance of the waste.
“As far as the bio-metric finger scan readers are concerned, I would wait for the High Court to pronounce its judgment on the Public Interest Litigation. Only then, I will take a decision on the implementation of the bio-metric finger scan readers”, she added.
Kamat’s predecessor S R Kothwale had installed two bio-metric finger scan readers in the Civic body and later issued a circular to the employees to record their attendance from December 1, 2012, which was refused and objected by the civic employees.
